I don't think I've ever finished an ultra without somebody's support along the way. No shame in that.

I've only attempted MHM once and I think my 20 lap effort puts me 3rd on the all-time lap list. Props to you and Rich AKA "Monkeyspanker".

And by making it look easy, I meant, I've heard Musicks don't train. Looks pretty easy for no training.

Either you finish or you DNF.
It is pretty black and white to me.
We can always give you credit for the guy who went the furthest in one push but didn't make it.
Does Brian have more laps than you with his 2 DNFs there?
How many did he do the first time?
Just looked it up.
He got in 13 in 2009, and then 12 last Saturday.
So his 25 laps put you in 4th place on the all time lap list.
Guess what?
That is still a DNF for Musicks at the MHM.

This no training stuff might be why you two are fighting injuries all the time.
Maybe some nice and easy consistently woudl limit your down time and allow you to enjoy running a little more instead of big gaps with no running and then an event or two and then more down time.
But that is what is cool about running.
You get out of it what you put into it.

Exactly, you get out of it what you put in. I realized that a year ago and have been injury free since with a 50K Laurel finish in the Spring, No Frills Just Hills FA, Akron Relay and Turkey Trot finishes, Peace Race, 50K G28x2 last month and the 50 mile finish at URINEO.

Maybe for the "record books" it's black and white, but my goals are not black and white. 20 laps on the MHs is better than none at all AND one step closer to finishing it.

I'll have to go back out there and do 6 laps so I can regain my spot at 3rd.

All I know is that so far I've finished every goal that I've set for myself. Yes, the MHM is a new challenge but I will eventually finish that also. The way I look at it... If you never DNF then you're not pushing yourself to the limit enough. There are always going to be athletes out there that are better than you and events that are too tough for you. The question is... When you fail will you come back for more? And when you succeed will you try something harder?
