If you are interested in seeing how fast you are on the track, this is your chance.
The MLTC has meets every Wednesday from June 15th through July 6th at the High School in Chardon.

The Harris BOYZZZ are going up on July 6th for the last meet they offer along with some Lakeview DOGZZZ.
Pinball is kicking around running every event from the 400 and up for a workout.
Not sure what Baby Sasquatch and Old Man Slim are in for.
Hopefully at least the 1500/3000 double again like last year.

They also have the 5K some weeks, not sure what is offered at this meet.
Will try and track down a schedule for the meet to see what our options are.

I have run at a couple of these meets in the past and really enjoyed it. It just so happens I am off the next two Wednesdays so maybe I will join Slim in not acting our ages and have some fun (maybe) on the track.

So after a busy day Marlena, Kaylie and I did stop in Chardon on our way home from Ashtabula. I signed up to run the 1500m and 800m. I was hoping to manage 80 second quarters for the 1500m but after the first 54 second 300m I never looked at my watch again until the finish. I ended up chasing a master runner for the whole race and finished second in a 4:56. I am alright with that time considering my current level of fitness. I decided to scratch out of the 800m so we could head home. Kaylie was getting anxious and was a little fussy due to teething. To be honest another two laps may have been ugly for me anyway... It was fun to push hard on the track again.

Nice Work OLD MAN.

You shouldn't have any problems at the Cortland 10 Miler staying ahead of me.

Baby Sasquatch and I made it to the MTC All Comers Meet yesterday.
The temp read 87 degrees when we stepped out of the van at the track.
With almost no shade at all at this facility, I knew we were going to be warm.
Eric settled on the 1500, 200, and then the 3000.
I signed up for the 1500 and 3000.
As always, I wonder why I do these things, but hanging out with the CC kids is always a blast and I enjoy running against them.
There were more people here this year than last, so hopefully these meets are growing.
In the 1500 there were at least 15 people, mostly guys this year.
Eric won with a 4:31, and I was across the line with a 5:15, just a bit slower than last year, probably mid pack or so.
Again, my throat was raw afterwards, and I was coughing some.
This time I was prepared and brought some hardtack candy to help.
Eric ran the 200 which was right before the 3000.
In fact three of the CC guys ran the 200/3000 double.
While they were running I waited at the finish line for them.
Then once they crossed the line I jogged over to the start of the 3000, and asked that they hold the start of the 3000 for the guys to get their time recorded and then make it over to the start line.
As usual I was barely able to hold form in my warm up, but once the gun goes off I am chasing the pack and striding out.
Eric was out in front of me, but with every lap I was gaining on him.
With 800 to go I decided to step around and waited for him to up his effort to match my pace, but he let me by.
At that point I figured he was waiting to out kick me at the end and I kept up my effort.
As I started out on the last lap I kept wondering when he would go by, and going down the front stretch I was listening for footsteps, and also trying to go as hard as I could to hold him off as long as possible.
Eventually I crossed the line and when I could focus again I looked over and saw Eric jog across the line at least 10 seconds back of me.
Small victories mean a lot.
His first comment was that he beat me by a bigger margin in the 1500 then I beat him in the 3000.
He is such a competitive PUNK.
But I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

We have a triathlon lined up for Sunday, but he has already conceded the race to me as he only swims once a year, in whatever random triathlon we find to sign up for.

Can't wait to go back next year and run again on the Chardon Track.
