Does anyone have a preference on handheld waterbottles?

I prefer the old style ultimate direction bottles, not the newer red tops.

I use the Nathan 20 oz bottles. They work.

I've been using the Nathan bottle jackets for some time. they give up thier elastic after a year or so.

I have one Camelback Podum bottle that I like alot. It has a nipple that that releases when you squeeze the bottle and doesn't require you to close it in between sips. Sounds like an unimportant feature but if you have a flashlight or food in the other hand it can require some juggling to get a cap open.

Nathan just came out with an insulated bottle jacket. Seems to be better built thatn the standard $5 one you buy at Dicks.

I agree with you Cam, on the Nathan losing their elasticity. I've just started using my handhelds, and have to keep adjusting them.

But Nathan didn't just come out with the insulated jackets, I just found a 4 year old one in my running gear-no need to buy new!

I've developed rudimentary skill with a needle and thread in the base few years. I've modified most of my Nathan bottle jackets by sewing in a bolt of shock line to "suppliment" the cheapo elastic in the neck area of the bottle. Keeps them tight so they don't bounce around if you looosen your grip.

I have a new preference for hand helds. I used Amphipods in most of MMT, and they worked well. I didn't use energy clenching them in my hands, they simply fit. Just bought two.
