Running Newport Loop in Mill Creek today in opposite direction of YUTC. Getting close to Newport Wetlands Parking and catch up to a woman. As I get close I say "Good Morning". She doesn't flinch. She has an Ipod so I know she isn't deaf. The trail is pretty narrow and she's running with her elbows out. Figure there's a good chance I'll brush her when passing. Try a few more "Good Mornings" with some "Hellos" thrown in with no acknowledgement. There's a small wooden walkway and I'm close enough to stomp on it while she's crossing. Still nothing. Feel bad about spooking her by forcing my way past, even if she deserves it, so I walk and wait until the trail spits us out on the road before passing. What would you do?

I would have passed on the left.

Not very safe or proper on her part to not be aware of her surroundings

You gave three *warnings* in MCP and she still didn't hear you?

Then elbow past.

I don't run in places with many humans, but when I do, like at MCP, I try and call out a "good morning" a good ways away, so I don't scare them. If I notice a human with a dog, I try to immediately get everyone's attention, especially the dog.

I've run with music/podcasts in MCP. It is probably not the best option, for a female. I will say that.

But once you've given the runner the notice, more than once, then go. If it scares/bothers them, it should.
